What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture, also known as Facial Rejuvenation or Facial Acupuncture, applies the benefits of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to provide a natural, anti-aging procedure that nourishes your skin from the inside out.

Though elements of Cosmetic Acupuncture, like micro-needling and gua sha have become popular, modern-day beauty staples, Chinese Medical Cosmetology ( 美容 "Mei Rong" ) has a well-documented and respected history dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) . Historically, Chinese medical physicians were employed to perform acupuncture and herbal medicine on empresses, as well as emperors' concubines, to enhance their natural radiance, delay signs of aging, and maintain a youthful and lustrous appearance.

Our "Acu-Facial" combines cosmetic acupuncture with other proven modalities to nourish your skin using a holistic, customized approach. TCM-based dietary recommendations, as well as Chinese herbal medicine may also be offered.

More Than Skin Deep

The benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture go beyond healthier-looking skin. In TCM, we observe and treat not only the body, but also the mind and emotions as a whole. If there is an imbalance in one system, it will affect all the others. Therefore, our skin (along with our hair, nails, etc.) is seen as merely a reflection of the state of our internal health, and is treated as such.

With that in mind, Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments not only address skin issues, but also the disharmonies within the body, thereby improving overall health. Facial acupuncture points are used in combination with acu-points on the body. In addition to improvements in their skin, patients may also experience:

  • Improved sleep quality

  • Reductions in anxiety and/or stress levels

  • Reductions in chronic or nagging pain

  • Increased energy levels and improved mood

Step 2: LED Light Therapy

Low-level LED light therapy is utilized during your acupuncture session to give your skin an added boost. Our CellumaPRO device is proven to decrease inflammation & increase micro-circulation. The NASA-developed technology is FDA-cleared to not only benefit acne and wrinkles, but also treat muscle, joint & arthritic pain (and can be added to any treatment).

Step 3: Facial Acupressure

After a warm towel is applied to the face, soothing acupressure points are massaged to further relax muscle tension in the face and jaw.

Step 1: Acupuncture

Tiny, hair-thin acupuncture needles are inserted into the face and other body points to help stimulate collagen and elastin production, allowing your skin to be nourished, oxygenated and moisturized from the inside out.

Step 5: Facial Gua Sha

The ancient Chinese art of gua sha rounds out your treatment. We stick to its medicinal roots in the process, stimulating all the right acu-points and effectively releasing muscle tension. Gua sha can also increase circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage.
